Mauritania rolls out E-Visa system, effective January 5, 2025

How to apply for an e-Visa to visit Mauritania

Starting January 5, 2025, visa applications will need to be submitted through the official website of the National Agency for the Population Register and Secure Titles (ANRPTS) at anrpts.gov.mr.

This platform allows applicants to submit their applications online and receive their visas electronically, eliminating the need to visit an embassy or consulate.

Visa duration options

Applicants can choose from the following visa durations:

30 days,
60 days,
90 days.

Required information

To apply for an e-Visa, applicants must complete an online form with the following details:

Full name,
Date and place of birth,
Nationality,
Profession,
Email address,
Phone number,
Purpose of stay (tourism, business, family, medical, cultural/sports, or other),
Date of arrival in Mauritania,
Desired number of entries (single, double, or multiple),
Passport details (number, type, issue date, expiration date, etc.).

Required documents

Additionally, applicants must upload:

A passport-style photo,
A scanned copy of the passport valid for at least 6 months.

Visa Fees

After retrieving the visa approval from the portal, the document, bearing a QR code, must be printed, presented to security personnel and the visa fees must be paid upon arrival in Mauritania (€55 / $60 for a 30-day visa).

The end of sticker visas in Mauritania

“The issuance of sticker visas is discontinued, and they are replaced by online visas. When you arrive at the crossing point, the formalities for capturing your biometric data will be carried out quickly to finalize your entry into the territory,” explains ANRPTS.

Previously, travelers required to obtain a visa for Mauritania could do so at embassies, consulates, or upon arrival in the country.

With the introduction of the e-Visa, the process is now fully digitized, offering greater convenience and maintaining a high level of security through modern digital standards.

Citizens from the following countries are exempt from visa requirements when traveling to Mauritania:

Algeria, Burkina Faso,
Chad, Côte d’Ivoire,
Gambia,
Guinea-Bissau,
Libya,
Mali,
Niger,
Senegal and Tunisia
