IBADAN, NIGERIA, ahead of the historic 50th Anniversary Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the Zonal General Elections, the outgoing Zonal Executive Council of the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies (NANTA), Western Zone, formally presented thier end-of-tenure reports to the Board of Trustees (BOTs) today February 20, 2026
The high-level meeting served as a final stewardship review and a strategic handover, setting the stage for the Zonal Executive Council elections scheduled for February 26, 2026.
BOTs Applauds Resilience Amid Economic Headwinds
In his opening remarks, BOTs member Mr. Naji Halawi lauded the outgoing team for their unwavering dedications. He noted that the Zonal Executive Council had successfully moved NANTA Western Zone to a “new level of leadership,” emphasizing that their strategic initiatives have set a high benchmark for the incoming administration.

Corroborating these remarks, the second BOTs member Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Akanni-Aluko praised the entire Zonal executives for their “labor of love” to the association, despite the daunting economic challenges facing the country and the global travel industry, the entire team had maintained a position of leadership and remained committed to the growth of NANTA,” she stated.
Accountability and Stewardship
The Zonal Executive Council, led by the outgoing Vice President, Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, delivered a detailed account of their stewardship. Each executive officer provided a comprehensive report of their specific activities, reflecting a tenure built on financial transparency and member welfare.
In a joint statement, the Zonal Executives expressed their gratitude to the BOTs and the Vice President Otunba Babatunde Adesokan for their consistent supports, which they described as “instrumental to the successes recorded during this administration.”
Roadmap to the Zonal Election and Golden Jubilee
With the Western Zone Zonal Election set for February 26, 2026, the BOTs emphasized the importance of a seamless transition:
Call for Transparency: The BOTs called for absolute transparency and accountability in the February 26th polls, urging that the process remains a “critical pathway” to the national elections that follow.
AGM Readiness: Chief (Mrs.) Akanni-Aluko commended the membership for their enthusiastic turnout for the ongoing AGM registrations. She encouraged even greater participation for the landmark Golden Jubilee celebrations holding at the International Conference Centre, Ibadan.
