NANTA Western Zone Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State – By Temitope Ogunsebikan

IBADAN, NIGERIA – July 8, 2026 – In line with its ongoing commitment to promoting professionalism, security, consumer protection, and ethical practices within Nigeria’s travel and tourism sector, the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA), Western Zone, paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command Headquarters in Ibadan today.

The NANTA Western Zone delegation was led by the Zonal Vice President, Prince Olaleye Abiodun Ajibade (Managing Director/CEO of New Realm Travels & Tours Ltd). Other key executive members in attendance included:

The delegation was received by the Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, Psc, Mnips, alongside senior members of the Oyo State Command management team, including:

  • ACP Sade Bamigboye – Assistant Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration

Addressing the Threat of Fraudulent Travel Operators

During the meeting, Prince Olaleye Abiodun Ajibade expressed his gratitude to the Commissioner for the warm reception and reaffirmed NANTA’s dedication to fostering a sustainable partnership with law enforcement.

He raised critical concerns regarding the rise of unregistered and fraudulent travel operators, noting that their illicit activities undermine the industry’s integrity and financially exploit the public. The Vice President called for enhanced collaboration with the Police to identify, investigate, and prosecute these bad actors, thereby protecting the reputation of accredited NANTA members who uphold strict professional standards.

Police Command Commends Proactive Leadership

In response, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga commended NANTA Western Zone for its proactive stance on sanitizing the travel sector. He emphasized that maintaining security and public order is a shared responsibility, requiring active cooperation between law enforcement and professional bodies.

The Commissioner urged NANTA to intensify its public enlightenment campaigns, enabling citizens to easily distinguish registered agencies from fraudulent operators. He noted that accredited NANTA members offer accountability, traceability, and regulatory compliance, making them the secure choice for consumers.

CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga concluded by assuring NANTA delegation of the Oyo State Command’s full support in advancing intelligence sharing, consumer protection, and the eradication of fraudulent travel practices across the state.
